The Storybook Land Visitor Center dedication will be Wednesday evening at Wylie Park.

The Storybook Theatre performers will provide entertainment at 6:30 p.m., followed by the formal dedication ceremony at 6:45 p.m.

Gregg Magera will be master of ceremonies. Speakers include Mayor Mike Levsen; Art Russo, parks and recreation board; South Dakota Sertoma Governor Mark Berg; Nancy Krumm, Convention and Visitors Bureau; Doug Johnson, city parks and rec department; and Bob Gruman, Aberdeen Sertoma Club.

The 6,000-square-foot visitor center includes a gift shop, food court area, handicapped-accessible restrooms and entrance plaza.

The Aberdeen Sertoma Club and parks and rec department worked to update the Storybook Land master plan, thus beginning plans for the visitor center. Fundraising for the $1.13 million project began in February 2008, construction began in September 2008, and the center opened to the public on May 22.
